Stilopad vs Penly: picking a home for your digital planner

Your planner is a small routine repeated hundreds of times: open the month, tap the day, move a sticker, write a note. A little friction becomes a lot when every page asks you to switch tools again.

If your routine is centered on Android and Penly already feels natural, there may be no reason to move. Stilopad is worth a trial when browser access and shared planning would make a meaningful difference.

Penly is an obvious comparison for someone whose notebook is really a calendar, journal and sticker collection. Rather than arguing about which app looks more aesthetic, compare the small actions you repeat. A comfortable default can be worth more than an extra menu of settings.

Stilopad supports blank-area deselection, selected-object actions, editable text, imported graphics and animated GIFs. It also offers a web editor and live shared sessions. PDF hyperlink handling and imported-file fidelity have required ongoing fixes; test your planner before relying on either. Moving a Penly-specific editable file is not the same as bringing over an ordinary PDF, and we do not claim native Penly-file compatibility.

• Large imports, device behavior and cross-platform fidelity need testing with your own files.
• Competitor-native files and every advanced study feature are not interchangeable.

Bring a copy of one linked month, add text and a transparent sticker, and navigate with the tool you normally leave selected. Keep the original file.

Work with a duplicate. Keep both the original source and an independent export until the restored copy has passed your checks. Review reports help you choose what to test; they cannot establish which app is safest for everyone.
